Mint and redeem in Exchange

Use Exchange to issue or redeem tokens with the supported collateral assets.

Learn how to mint and redeem USDRIF with RIF or DOC, and RIF Pro with RIF, in the Exchange section of the RIF On Chain dApp.

Understand the tokens and the operation

USDRIF is ROC’s USD-pegged stablecoin. RIFP, also called RIFPRO, is RIF Pro: a token representing the residual value of RIF collateral after USDRIF liabilities. Its value can change with RIF. DOC is Money On Chain’s USD-pegged stablecoin and a second collateral asset accepted by ROC.

A mint deposits RIF or DOC and issues protocol tokens. A redemption burns protocol tokens and returns collateral. A bucket is the protocol’s separate accounting for one collateral asset. Both buckets issue the same USDRIF token.

Connect to the dApp

Open the application from the website’s dAPP button and connect your wallet on Rootstock Mainnet (chain ID 30). You need rBTC for gas and the token you want to exchange.

Select the operation

Open the Exchange section and select the token pair:

You send You receive Operation
RIF USDRIF Mint USDRIF
RIF RIFP Mint RIF Pro
USDRIF RIF Redeem USDRIF
RIFP RIF Redeem RIF Pro
DOC USDRIF Mint USDRIF with DOC
USDRIF DOC Redeem USDRIF for DOC

Enter the amount you want to exchange. The dApp calculates the amount you will receive.

Mint and redeem with RIF

Select RIF as input and USDRIF or RIFP as output to mint the selected token. To redeem, select USDRIF or RIFP as input and RIF as output. Use the central arrow to reverse the pair, then enter the amount and review the quote.

Mint and redeem with DOC

DOC is collateral in ROC: sending DOC mints USDRIF, and sending USDRIF redeems it for DOC. Both operations take place on Rootstock, without moving tokens between networks. You do not need RIFP for this flow.

  1. To mint, select DOC as input and USDRIF as output.
  2. To redeem, reverse the pair using the central arrow, or select USDRIF as input and DOC as output.
  3. Enter the amount and review the quote calculated by the dApp.

Both collateral buckets issue the same USDRIF. You can redeem USDRIF originally minted with RIF for DOC, provided the DOC bucket has enough attributed USDRIF liabilities available for redemption.

Both tokens target the US dollar, but the final amount depends on the quote, fees and execution conditions.

Review the transaction

Before confirming, check:

  • The token and amount you are sending.
  • The token and amount you will receive.
  • The protocol fee and selected payment currency.
  • The slippage tolerance (Slippage Tolerance in the dApp) and available operation limit.

Fees may be paid in the relevant collateral asset or MOC, as offered by the application. Changing the payment token may require an approval and additional gas. Keep rBTC for gas and execution costs.

Approvals, costs and execution

An approval authorizes the contract to use a token up to a spending limit (allowance). Check the contract and amount in your wallet, confirm and wait for confirmation before submitting the operation.

The protocol fee may be paid in the asset or MOC according to the displayed options. rBTC pays gas and execution costs, even when the protocol fee is zero. Slippage tolerance sets the permitted change in the quote: review the maximum to send and minimum to receive.

A Queued operation is awaiting execution; confirmation of submission does not mean you have received the tokens. Follow Last Operations through execution and check the balances. If it fails, check the reason before retrying: coverage, available limits or the quote may have changed.

Confirm the transaction

  1. If requested, approve the use of the token and wait for confirmation.
  2. Click Exchange and review the summary.
  3. Confirm the operation in your wallet.
  4. Follow the status in Last Operations until execution completes.

An operation may enter the queue before it executes. You can track the transaction from your wallet or a block explorer.

If an operation is unavailable

Check the selected network, wallet balances, rBTC for gas and token allowances. Coverage compares the value of the bucket’s collateral with its USDRIF liabilities. A standalone USDRIF mint with RIF or a RIFP redemption can be limited if it would breach the required coverage. USDRIF redemption also depends on liabilities available in the chosen bucket; a global “No limit” label does not override these checks.

A combined operation pairs collateral movement with issuing or burning both tokens to address coverage, but remains subject to other protocol limits.
